Sylvester Rosegger

Sylvester Rosegger (born December 3, 1912 in St. Lorenzen im Mürz Valley , Styria ; † August 4, 2006 ) was a German agricultural scientist specializing in agricultural engineering.

Life

Rosegger grew up in Styria. In November 1933 he became a member of the NSDAP in Austria and on May 1, 1938 with membership number 6.229.785 of the NSDAP in Germany . In 1934 he was imprisoned in Graz for Nazi activities in the Dollfuss affair . In 1938 he began studying agriculture at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin, which he completed with the main diploma examination in March 1941. He was then a lieutenant in the reserve in World War II .

After the end of the Second World War, he initially worked as a school teacher and later became director of the agricultural college in Wernigerode . In 1948 he was in Berlin with a thesis on the performance and technical equipment of family farms doctorate .

In 1952 the German Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Berlin founded the Institute for Agricultural Engineering Potsdam-Bornim, today's Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering Bornim (ATB). As the manager, Rosegger was significantly involved in the development. In 1953 he received a reputation as a professor (part-time) to the TH Dresden .

In 1958 he became a member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and in 1961 he was expelled from the same. In 1964 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1966 to 1979 he was first head of the predecessor organization Institute for Industrial Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig , after the change of name as director of the Federal Research Center for Agriculture (FAL) in Braunschweig.

The main focus of Rosegger's work and research was the agricultural engineering disciplines with the areas of power and work machines, work and production processes in external and internal trade, as well as people and the world of work.

Rosegger has published more than 100 publications.

In 1990 he was honored with an honorary doctorate in engineering from the TU Dresden. He was a full member of the GDR Academy of Agricultural Sciences and a member of the Max Eyth Society for Agricultural Engineering.
