Sylvius Friedrich Ludwig von Frankenberg and Ludwigsdorff (born October 20, 1728 in Schleusingen , † April 24, 1815 in Gotha ) was a Gothic Privy Councilor and Minister.

Life

Born in Schmalkalden near Meiningen as the son of a magistrate, Sylvius Friedrich von Frankenberg served from 1750 to 1765 in the Hessen-Kassel civil service in Hanau and as an envoy in Copenhagen and Vienna. In 1765 Duke Friedrich III appointed him . from Saxe-Gotha to the real secret council in the Gotha council, from 1788 he was minister of state, in 1792 he became chief tax director. In 1803, together with his two sisters Luise Friederike (1732–1804) and Adolphine Eberhardine (1734–1811), he donated the largest part to the building of the so-called Frankenberg Hospital. This existed until 1878 at Grosse Fahnenstrasse 18. Minister Frankenberg lived in his own house "Zur guten Schmiede", now better known as the home of the writer Gustav Freytag in Siebleben .

Honors

The city of Gotha named Frankenbergstrasse after its minister.
