The synagogue in Hebenshausen , a district of the Neu-Eichenberg community in the Werra-Meißner district in Hesse , was built in the 1850s. The derelict synagogue is located at Lange Straße 30, it is a protected cultural monument .

history

Services were held in the synagogue until 1908 . Then the synagogue had to be closed because no minyan (ten Jewish men) could be reached. The cult objects were handed over to the Jewish community in Witzenhausen .

In 1937 the Jewish community of Witzenhausen, which owned the synagogue building, sold the building to an innkeeper, whose inn was located in the building of the former Jewish school next to the synagogue. The new owner converted the synagogue building into a barn .
