The synagogue in Oberlustadt , a district of the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality Lustadt in the district of Germersheim , was built in 1851 and destroyed in the November pogrom in 1938 . The synagogue was at Röderstrasse 3, next to it was the Jewish school.
architecture
The historicist synagogue had a horseshoe-shaped portal on the west side . Above it was a triple window and in the gable a window designed as a Star of David . The synagogue had 120 places for men and 70 women in the gallery .
time of the nationalsocialism
During the November pogrom in 1938 the synagogue was set on fire by SA men from Landau in the Palatinate . The Torah scrolls and the Torah shrine were burned in front of the synagogue. The ruins of the former synagogue remained in place after 1945. In the 1970s, a residential building was built on the synagogue site.
