The Syrstad rock is a rock ledge in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . In the Flood Range, it rises 1.5 km north of Koerner Bluff on the northwestern slopes of Mount Bursey .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1974 after the Norwegian Erik Syrstad from the University of Bergen , ionospheric physicist on the Amundsen-Scott- South Pole Station in 1970.
