The Tännichtgrundbach is the most important tributary to the Lotzebach . Almost the entire course of the stream forms with the Tännichtgrund , a wooded side valley of the Elbe, the city limits of Dresden with the districts of Oberwartha and Niederwartha to the neighboring communities of Klipphausen and Wilsdruff .

It rises about 300 m north of the Dresdner Tor motorway service station in the Wilsdruffer district of Kaufbach and flows from there in an easterly direction to Unkersdorfer Weg, almost parallel to the motorway. Shortly before the Unkersdorfer Weg is at 255 m above sea level. NN dammed a pond, shortly afterwards it takes up the Unkersdorfer slope ditch . From the bridge over the Tännichtgrundbach , the Unkersdorfer Weg is called the Weistropper Weg .

From the pond, the stream flows north-east, after the bridge then north, where it moves away from Unkersdorfer Straße. The wooded valley, the floor of which changes relatively quickly from heights of 240 m above sea level. NN at about 220 m above sea level. NN lowers, is called the Kingdom of Heaven .

Two streams arise from the dog sports facility. While one flows westwards towards Prinzbach , the other flows eastwards after a few hundred meters into the Tännichtgrundbach . This takes in two more small streams in its course, before it bends a little above the Oberwartha reservoir to the west in the direction of the Fuchsloch .

Shortly afterwards the Bierallee leads from about 210 m above sea level. NN from the Tännichtgrund out to Unkersdorfer Strasse in Oberwartha near the end of the Upper Reservoir and overcomes almost 50 meters in altitude. At the Fuchsloch the brook takes on the Laubwaldbach from the east. From here a path leads to Weistropp to the street "Am Sportplatz".

Below the foxhole was the Tännichtmühle , of which there are no structural remains. It burned down in 1872. It was decided not to rebuild, also because it was nicknamed the devil's mill and there was fear of further misfortunes. The devil miller Andreas Reiff , owner of the mill since 1709, was said to have an alliance with the devil, through whose help he is said to have caused considerable damage to the pastor of Weistrop and the residents through magic. The Tännichtmühle was built by Bernhard von Rothschütz in 1553 east of the village of Weistropp.

Not far from there is the former stone crusher house slightly above the valley floor, and further up the former quarry of Oberwartha .

Below Oberwartha , the Tännichtgrundbach takes in the Five Brothers Brook from the west, which rises at the sheep pond on the Five Brothers Way. A little to the north of this tributary is the Gertrudquelle ( Gertruds-Quell ), whose water flows into the Five Brothers Bach via a small spring brook . The Five Brothers are a group of five sweet chestnuts that are also designated as natural monuments.

Above the tributary of the Five Brothers Bach , slightly east of the Lotzebach, there is a small pond, which is fed by two small brooks from the direction of the Weistropper sports field, and where the Tännichtmühle used to be. This pond has a short drain into the Tännichtgrundbach .

Shortly afterwards, the path leads out of the Tännichtgrund to Löffels ponds and from there on to Weistropp to the church settlement. These ponds are fed by two small streams from the east. The waters flow together into the Tännichtgrundbach, which they continue below at about 165 m above sea level. Reach NN. A few hundred meters further on is the Electoral Jagdstein at about 155 m above sea level. NN.

East Dorotheenstraße in Oberwartha springs from the line trench , the few hundred meters to the northwest of it in the Tännichtgrundbach in about 150 m above sea level. NN flows.

To the north of the trench and west of the Tännichtgrund lies the Bohemian Wall , a prehistoric Slavic castle, more than 40 m above the valley floor . It belongs to a whole system of ramparts. The next hill to the west is occupied by the Heiliger Hain ramparts . To the north lies the mighty Niederwartha castle hill at 207 m above sea level. NN already over 70 m above the Tännichtgrund. The stream has to deviate from the northeast direction between the castle hill and the opposite Teufelskanzel (195 m above sea level). It runs between Niederwarthaer Straße ( Weistropp ) and Oberwarthaer Straße in a slight curve to the west.

In front of the two mountains it takes the Weistropper Hanggraben and then the Weistropper Graben . The brook branches between these two tributaries and forms with the right course the small, elongated Burgberg pond ( Mühlteich ).

Shortly above the inflow from the Weistropper Graben , the stream turns to the northeast. Here, shortly before the bridge on Tännichtgrundstrasse, was the Tännichtgrundmühle (also called Obermühle , Schneidemühle or Appeltmühle ), the building of which is still preserved today.

After the bridge, the brook branches again into two courses, the right (east) of which forms another mill pond. The waters now flow separately between Tännichtgrundstraße and Friedrich-August-Straße downhill and join a few hundred meters further at the former Rysselmühle ( Reibig Mühle ), also known as Unter Mühle Niederwartha . This was just before the bridge on Friedrich-August-Strasse.

After this bridge, the stream flows to the nearby bridge on Meißner Straße, slightly east of Weistropper Straße. The Rysselmühle ( Reibig Mühle ) used to be located here.

Shortly after this bridge it flows into 100.15 m above sea level. NN in the Lotzebach . At the confluence, the Tännichtgrundbach carries an average of 51% of the water volume of the Lotzebach , making it by far the largest inflow. After only 91 m, the shared waters reach the Elbe .

Until 1875 the brook still flowed directly into the Elbe, but its last section has disappeared when the railway was built .
