The Tăuşoare Cave ( Romanian Peştera Izvorul Tăuşoarelor ) is located near the Telciu municipality in Romania , in the Rodna Mountains in the Bistrița-Năsăud district at about 950 meters above sea level. It is 19 kilometers long and its deepest point extends down to 413.5 meters below the surface of the earth.

The cave was discovered in 1955 by the teacher Leon Bârte from Parva . It is named after the Izvorul Tăușoarelor river , which is not far from the cave.

The cave is a natural monument and part of the Tăușoare-Zalion complex. The cave was formed in limestone . With a height difference of 425 meters, it is the deepest cave in Romania and is therefore considered to be difficult to enter. Access is only permitted to specialists for research; it remains closed to the general public. The cave became famous for the occurrence of mirabilite , a mineral that was also only found in one cave in America .
