The gymnastics and sports community 1846 Mainz-Bretzenheim is a German sports club based in the Mainz district of Bretzenheim in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

Football department as an independent club and after the war

Today's football department came together independently on February 10, 1946 as SG 1946 Bretzenheim and took part in games in Mainz. On March 25th, the team was officially founded as a club. For the 1946/47 season , the club then went into the game operations of the Landesliga Rheinhessen . With 27:25 points they finished seventh at the end of the season. On March 26, 1949 it was decided to reunite with the gymnastics club. A few opponents of this decision within the footballers split off and founded SV 1912 Mainz-Bretzenheim .

For the 1949/50 season , the club then went over to the new regional league Rheinhessen / Nahe , but with 16:40 points they rose to the Mainz / Kreuznach district class at the end of this season . Also in 1949, on April 28, the club finally renamed itself Sportgemeinschaft 1846 Mainz-Bretzenheim. Another year later, on August 26, 1950, the name was changed again to the current club name, Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft 1846 Mainz-Bretzenheim .

Time in the A, B and C class

For the 1952/53 season, the first soccer team was then transferred to the newly introduced A-Class Rheinhessen North . There then succeeded at the end of the 1953/54 season, the first place, but in the promotion games to the 2nd amateur league failed at TSV Rhenania Rheindürkheim . After the 1957/58 season, as the penultimate one, you also have to relegate from the A-class to the B-class. The re-promotion to the now A-Class Rheinhessen-Nord league should finally succeed at the end of the 1967/68 season. The complete merger of the gymnastics club with the entire club followed on May 14, 1966. After almost ten years in the league, after the 1976/77 season the football team went back down to the B class. Again, it will take ten years before the team should be able to return to the A-class. This time, however, you could only stay in the league until the 1989/90 season and at the end of the season had to be relegated as the last of the table. One season later, for the first time in the club's history, you should even have to relegate to the C-class. However, it was possible to successfully escape from this again after the 1992/93 season.

Years of advancement

For the 1995/96 season, the team was then classified in the new district league East . This one could finally leave at the end of the 1996/97 season even with a promotion and from then on played in the district class Rheinhessen-Nord . From this, the next promotion was achieved immediately after the 1999/2000 season. With which the team was allowed to play in the Rheinhessen regional league for the 2000/01 season. There you could hold on, but you could never achieve a single-digit place in the table. After the 2003/04 season, it then went back to the district class via 16th place with only 16 points. From this, at the end of the 2012/13 season, he was finally promoted back to the district league. After finishing second in the 2014/15 season, they qualified for the promotion delegation to the Landesliga Ost, which they then successfully completed. Thus, the club has been playing in the Landesliga Ost since the 2015/16 season.
