The Turn- und Sportgesellschaft Reutlingen 1843 eV is the second largest sports club in Reutlingen with around 4,600 members and 25 departments .

history

The TSG was founded in 1843 and is based in the Reutlingen district of Ringelbach. The TSG has existed in its current form since 1950, when the Turnerbund and Turnergemeinde Reutlingen merged to form today's TSG Reutlingen.

The founding divisions from 1950 include gymnastics , athletics , handball , soccer , fencing and swimming . Over time, the departments ski (1952), judo (1955), badminton (1956), everyone (1961), aikido (1956), gymnastics (1970), ju-jutsu (1973), volleyball and basketball (1974) , Inclusive (1979), Ice Sports (1988) and Triathlon (1996).

At the TSG sports center in Ringelbach are:

The sports offer of the departments takes place in the club's own as well as rented sports facilities in the city of Reutlingen throughout the city.

For children, TSG Reutlingen offers children's sports in the TSG Rasselbande. Fitness courses are offered at the TSG fit & active. Health-oriented training is possible in the TSG Provital exercise and health center. TSG Reutlingen also offers rehabilitation sports.

successes

Individual departments or athletes of the club have already attracted national and international attention. For example, the epee fencing team managed to come second in the 1988 German Cup. Stephan Vuckovic won the silver medal in the triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . The judoka Ole Bischof became European champion in 2005 and student world champion a year later, as well as Olympic champion in the weight class up to 81 kg at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . In the same weight class, he won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London .

The basketball department has existed since 1974 and is divided into the following teams:

Ice Sports Department

The ice sports department was incorporated into TSG Reutlingen in 1988. This was expanded in 1992 by the ice hockey division . The first TSG ice hockey team takes part in the - currently fifth class - Baden-Württemberg State League.

Fencing Department

The fencing department has existed since 1928.

Inclusive department

The TSG Inclusive department (formerly disabled sports) has existed since 1979.

Judo Department

The judo department has existed since 1958. Since November 2003, training has been taking place in the Ole Bischof judo sports hall.

The current TSG teams (male and female) are currently fighting in the national league and the men were champions there in 2010. A second men's team fights in the district league. The youth teams, from U10 to U15, fight at the Württemberg level. The Aikido department has existed as an independent section within the Judo department alongside the Judo and Ju-Jutsu sections since 1966.

Athletics Department

The athletics department of TSG Reutlingen has been part of the LG Eningen-Reutlingen athletics community with TSV Eningen since 2006.

Swimming department

The swimming department at TSG is divided into swimming, synchronized swimming and water polo .

Synchronized swimming: The synchronized swimming department was founded in 1992 by Cathy Kleindienst together with her mother Margrit Kleindienst. Cathy is a former national swimmer - back then for Markgröningen. The department was taken over by Tania Reinbold (née Jopp) in 1995. Tania was also a national swimmer until 1990. Tania Reinbold was the responsible trainer until 2013. During this time, another national swimmer emerged: Daniela Reinhardt. Daniela was a youth national swimmer from 2009 to 2010, and from 2010 to 2015 a member of the DSV national team. She took part in the European Youth Championships in Tampere / Finland (2010), the World Youth Championships in Indianapolis / USA (2010) and the 2014 European Championships in Berlin.
