The TV Altötting 1864 e. V. is a German popular sports club from the pilgrimage town of Altötting and with over 3200 members, organized in 16 departments / sports, the largest club in the district town and the second largest in the district after SV Wacker Burghausen . The club colors are white and red. The departments offer badminton , disabled sports , kick / boxing , fitness, soccer , handball , cardiac sports , judo , athletics , chess , swimming , skiing / cycling, Taekwondo / Ju Jutsu, tennis , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball . There are also special courses and offers, such as REHA sport or the KISS children's sports school .

Since the 1950s, when the Altötting businessman Ludwig Kellerer had a football stadium built on Burghauser Strasse, the TVA has had a large sports area in the area between the Herzog-Ludwig-Realschule and the Hinterberger forwarding company. Since the renovation of the sports facility with funds from the association, the city and the district in 1989, during which the former cinder track was converted into a modern tartan facility with 6 lanes, it has also been used as the district sports facility. The stadium was dedicated to the builder Ludwig Kellerer. In addition to six tennis sand courts, a multifunctional court, three full-size soccer fields, of which the main court and a side court have floodlights, there are also two beach volleyball courts.

founding

The TV Altötting is not only one of the largest, but also the oldest association in the district town of Altötting . Only TV Neuötting is older and has been called TSV 1852 Neuötting since 1933. However, this was not founded until 1864. The TV Altötting in turn was not officially founded until July 15, 1865 with the approval of the Royal District Office, but included it in the club name in 1864, because sports enthusiasts have been in the "Seidel'schen Turngarten" since that year. , a private property of the bookbinder Seidl on Kapuzinerstraße in Altötting. Initially it was only about men who trained themselves together physically in the spirit of the “gymnastics father” Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778–1852) according to the motto “Fresh-Fromm-Fröhlich-Frei”. 14 founding members are named in the first club chronicle. The first women's squad was established in the club relatively late, in 1923.

history

From the founding date, people appeared in public and trained on the new summer gymnasium at Gasthof Pallauf in Mühldorfer Straße in Altötting. 1866 was a central year for the club and Altötting, because the club was accepted into the German Gymnastics Federation, the first club flag was ceremoniously consecrated on September 16 and the volunteer Altötting fire brigade was founded at the instigation and by members of the gymnastics club. After about five years in which there were balls and (sports) events, as well as regular training, the initial enthusiasm ebbed again. Therefore, the club was reorganized in 1874 and a horizontal bar was bought. From then on it went steadily upwards, although the sport at that time was by no means practiced by the bulk of the population; so in 1913 the association only had 100 members. Sports were initially gymnastics and athletics, and from 1913 fistball as well. From 1919 on, a football department was also integrated into the club, although this was viewed critically by some club members. FC Ötting was initially founded independently by players from Alt- and Neuötting in 1912. From 1920 onwards, other sports were also practiced, such as fencing, handball and table tennis, but these did not constitute separate departments until after 1945. The more than 150-year history of TV 1864 Altötting was comprehensively presented in a chronicle by Christine Meinecke and Jörg Zellner as well as the association board and second mayor of Altötting, Wolfgang Sellner, in the anniversary year 2014. The German Gymnastics Federation named the 215-page book the best club festival publication of the years 14/15.

For about 10 years there have been plans to build a new clubhouse. These had to be revised several times and adapted to new legal regulations. The construction of the “House of Sports” is to begin in 2017.

Sporting successes

Individual departments repeatedly achieved particular sporting successes. For a long time, however, the sport was not pursued as a competition. However, for many years the gymnasts took part in exhibition gymnastics at neighboring clubs, for example in Mühldorf , and at the German gymnastics festivals in Nuremberg (1903) in Frankfurt (1908) or Leipzig (1913). Such gymnastics festivals were also held in Altötting itself, such as the Zwischen-Gau-Gymnastics Festival in 1900. The TVA won the first “Alt-Neuötting relay race” in 1919. In 1928 the fistball players became Upper Bavarian champions. In the 1957/58 season, the football division reached its highest division with the 2nd amateur league, which it was able to hold for two years. The women's soccer department, which was founded comparatively early in 1967, was able to play very successfully in high leagues for many years, but in the past five years it has been relegated several times to the district league (currently, 2019/20). Both the handball department and the volleyball players are also represented by some teams in the respective district leagues (status: 11/2017)

The martial arts department, which was only founded in 1979, celebrates great successes again and again: in the year the department was founded, Karateka Wolfgang Herkenroth won the European championship organized by the DVWS (German Association for Unarmed Self-Defense) in the still young sport of kickboxing in Antwerp without defeat; however, there was no recognition by the world association WAKO. After joining the world association, it took a few years, but in 1993 Nazif Ünlü and Udo Irsigler became European champions in the youth field. The boxing successes are even more impressive: in 2007 Katharina Jesaulow became German champion in youth boxing. Lina Maier won this title in 2010, was also vice European champion and third at the world championships that year. Max Maier won the German Kickboxing Championship in full contact men up to 81 kg in 2011, as well as the German Boxing Championship (U19, light heavyweight) in Hamburg in 2015.
The most successful German bobsledder, Christoph Langen , began his sporting career as a track and field athlete at the TVA, was among other things Bavarian champion in high jump and decathlete with good prospects.
