The Tablas Strait is a strait in the Philippine archipelago and connects the Sibuyan Sea to the northeast with the Sulu Sea to the southwest. To the north is the Bay of Tayabas and to the northwest is the Isla Verde Strait .

Mindoro Island is to the west , Panay to the southeast , Tablas to the east and Marinduque to the northeast .

In the south of the strait are the Caluya Islands , with the islands of Semirara and Sibay .

On July 31, 1646, the third of the five naval battles of La Naval de Manila took place in the waters of the Tablas Strait , which went down in the history of the Philippines as the victory over the Netherlands.

On the night of July 15 to 16, 1973, the Mactan ferry sank off the island of Maestro de Campo . Of the 680 passengers, 657 were saved.

On December 20, 1987, the passenger ferry Doña Paz collided with the oil tanker Vector and sank - more than 4,000 people died.
