Tadej Slabe

Tadej Slabe (born April 3, 1959 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian geographer , cave explorer and sport climber .

As a climber, Tadej Slabe made a special contribution to the development of the climbing area of Osp in Slovenia, which is now considered the most important international climbing area in Slovenia. Here he succeeded in 1992, the first ascent of the route Za staro kolo in majhnega psa in difficulty 8c + , counted the number of years of the most difficult in the world. In 1993 he was able to climb the first part of the route Sanjski par (8c).

Tadej Slabe received his doctorate in geography in 1992 and has since worked as a scientist, particularly in the exploration of the Slovenian Karst and its caves, but has also researched karst areas in China, Japan, France and Iran. Since 1995 he has been head of Inštitut za raziskovanje krasa (Institute of Karst Research) in Postojna , an institute of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts . One focus of his work is research into the influences of human interventions, especially road construction on karst landscapes. Tadej Slabe is also a member of the Commission for Karst Hydrography and Speleogenesis in the International Union of Speleology . He has also published numerous scientific articles, including in the International Journal of Speleology .
