Days in Flisberg

Days Flisberg (born October 12, 1917 in Norrköping , † May 3, 1989 in Jönköping ) was a Swedish table tennis player . In 1954 he became vice world champion in singles.

National successes

Between 1936 and 1958, Flisberg was Swedish champion 13 times in singles, 14 times in doubles, 2 times in mixed and 14 times with different teams. He also won 22 titles at national senior championships.

International success

From 1936 to 1957 he played 103 times for the Swedish national team, winning 63 games. He played his first international match against Germany in 1936. When Germany fought the first international match after the Second World War in Gelsenkirchen on January 24, 1950, the opponent was Sweden and Tage Flisberg was part of his team.

From 1947 to 1957 Flisberg was nominated for nine world championships . In 1949 he reached the semi-finals in doubles with Richard Bergmann . His greatest success was in 1954 when he was runner-up in the individual world championship. He lost in the final against the Japanese Ichirō Ogimura .

In the world rankings , Flisberg took third place in 1954.

In 1982 Flisberg took part in the Senior World Championships in Gothenburg despite the prosthetic leg he had in the meantime.

Others

Flisberg worked in Tranås as a warehouse worker. In 1967 he was one of the founders of the Swaythling Club International .
