The Taggerty River is about 18 kilometers long river in the middle of the Australian state of Victoria .
It rises on the southern slopes of Lake Mountain in the northernmost part of the Yarra Ranges National Park and initially flows a few kilometers to the northwest. Then it turns its course abruptly to the south, only to turn west again after only two kilometers. North of Marysville it flows into the Steavenson River .
The river flows through largely unpopulated, subalpine area in the Great Dividing Range .
