Tahir Vakhidov

Tahir Vakhidov ( Uzbek Tair Vaxidov , Russian Таир Абдукахарович Вахидов ; born December 11, 1963 in Samarqand ) is an Uzbek chess player .

Once he played for the Uzbek SSR at the Soviet team championships (1985). He played for Uzbekistan at two Chess Olympiads : 1996 and 2002 . He also took part twice in the World Team Championships (1993 and 2001) and the Asian Team Championships (1993, 1999 and 2003).

At the Uzbek individual championship in 1993 he was shared second with Dmitry Kajumov and Raset Ziatdinov .

In 1993 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM). The title of Grand Master (GM) was awarded to him in 2009. He has held the title of FIDE trainer since 2014 . His highest rating was 2546 in January 2003.

His son Jahongir (* 1995) is also a grandmaster.
