The Taipei Municipal Stadium is a football stadium with an athletics facility in Taipei , capital of the Republic of China (Taiwan) . The previous building was built in 1956 and was mostly used for athletics events and had a capacity of 20,000 seats. It was demolished and rebuilt for the 2009 Summer Deaflympics between December 2006 and July 2009.
On July 3, 2011, the stadium had its highest attendance during a soccer game as the Taiwan national soccer team against the team from Malaysia in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup when 15,335 spectators watched the game.
The musician Michael Jackson held two concerts here during his Dangerous World Tour on September 4 and 6, 1993 in front of 80,000 spectators.
Next to the stadium is the Taipei Arena, which was inaugurated in 2005 and has 15,000 seats.
