Takashi Miura ( Jap. 三浦隆司 , Miura Takashi; * 14. May 1984 in Mitane , district Yamamoto , Akita Prefecture ) is a Japanese professional boxer and former WBC world champion in the super featherweight division .

Professional career

Miura made his professional debut at the age of 19 in 2003 and won on points. In 2007 he boxed against Yūsuke Kobori (later WBA lightweight world champion ) for the Japanese championship title and failed. His next attempt to become Japanese super featherweight champion failed when he boxed only a draw against Yoshimitsu Yashiro on January 17, 2009 in the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo .

In the same year he won the rematch against Yashiro by technical knockout in round 7 and thus finally conquered the belt of the Japanese champions. He defended this title several times. In 2012 he was allowed to box for the title against the WBA world champion; this was his compatriot Takashi Uchiyama . Miura lost this battle by TKo in the 8th round. Against the Mexican Gamaliel Diaz he was then on April 8, 2013 world champion in super featherweight of the association WBC, when he was declared the winner by giving up his opponent after the eighth round. He has been able to defend this title several times so far.

In November 2015 he lost the title to Francisco Vargas .
