Johann Wilhelm Dietmar
Johann Wilhelm Dietmar (* 1671 in Oberkatz ; † July 6, 1759 in Jena ) was a German legal scholar.
Life
Johann Wilhelm was the son of the farmer and Wagner Johann Dietmar and his wife Catharina Teufel. Initially he was taught by private teachers and in 1687 he moved to the Illustre grammar school in Gotha, which was under the direction of Rector Georg Hess . In 1693 he began studying law at the University of Jena . For this purpose he attended lectures at the philosophical faculty, among others with Johann Paul Hebenstreit and Georg Albrecht Hamberger . His legal knowledge was shaped by Nikolaus Christoph Lyncker , Johann Philipp Slevogt , Christian Wildvogel , Wilhelm Hieronymus Brückner , Adrian Beier the Younger , Georg Schubart , Johann Bernhard Friese and Johann Christian Schröter . After taking on a position as court and consistorial councilor in Ziegenhain , he received his doctorate in law under Wildvogel in 1702 in Jena.
He then took part in the reading business of the Salana and in 1712 became a commissioner for Sachsen-Weimar and Sachsen-Coburg. In 1720 he became a real counselor and lawyer at the court in Jena. Due to a legal dispute about the acquisition of the Apolda estate, he drew the disapproval of Duke Ernst August von Sachsen Weimar . This meant that he did not get a desired professorship in Jena. Only after the Duke's death in 1749 did he become a full professor at the institutes in Jena. In 1753 he rose to the professorship of the Pandects and in 1755 he was finally professor of the Codex and the Novellas. In his capacity as a Jena university lecturer, he also participated in the university's organizational tasks. He was dean of the law faculty several times and, in the summer semester of 1753, rector of the alma mater .
Dietmar met on May 19, 1704 in Jena with Clara Elisabeth Titius (Tietze), the daughter of the Jena deacon Georg Tietze (* 1648 - May 5, 1700 in Jena) and his wife Catharina Cöler (* May 28, 1654 in Naumburg ; † August 24, 1728 in Jena), married.
