Johann Bernhard Friese (born November 24, 1643 in Bodenwerder , † April 26, 1726 in Jena ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Johann Bernhard was the son of the businessman and councilor Adolph Friese and his wife Elisabeth Goebel. After initial training by private teachers, he attended the school in Herford and the Jesuit school in Hildesheim . Then he moved to the University of Rinteln and the University of Helmstedt , where he became a student of Hermann Conring . Following his studies, he became court master of the son of a privy councilor. With this he moved into the University of Marburg and the University of Jena . In Jena he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy in 1674 and obtained his doctorate in law in 1675.

Afterwards he took part in the reading business of the Salana, became court advocate and bailiff in Jena. In 1695 he was appointed associate professor of law in Jena and appointed to the Saxon-Eisenachian court and consistorial councilor. In 1700 he became a full professor of the institutes, assessor of the court court and Schöppenstuhl and in 1712 he took over the professorship of the Pandects. From his marriage to Susanna Sophia Gassel in 1677 he had eleven children, five of whom survived their father. The children are known to include Bernhard Adolph Friese's sons (born February 25, 1681 in Jena; † May 1, 1749 ibid., Dr. jur, November 22, 1715 court advocate in Weimar, heir and court lord on Pösen and Jägersdorf ), Friedrich Georg Friese (* Jena), Leonhard Adolph Friese (* Jena, 1707 Dr. jur.
