Taku ( Jap. 多久市 , -shi ) is a city of Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan .

Taku is west of Fukuoka and Saga .
history
Taku was founded on May 1, 1954 by amalgamating several villages.
Culture
The most important historical legacy of the city is the Confucius Temple, Taku Seibyō ( 多久 聖廟 ), built by the liege lord Taku Shigefumi (1669-1711) in 1708 . This is the oldest surviving Confucian temple in the country and is now protected as an Important Cultural Property of Japan .
