Talida-Teodora Gîdoiu (born January 12, 1986 in Orşova , Romania ) is a former Romanian helmswoman in rowing . She is a five-time European champion and an Olympian for Romania.

Career

With a body weight of almost 50 kg, Gîdoiu has the right qualifications for a helmswoman in rowing, since in the female classes they have to weigh at least as much. In 2004 she took part in the Junior World Championships in Banyoles and won the gold medal with the Romanian women's eighth . After that, she did not appear internationally for a few years.

When it became apparent that Elena Georgescu would end her career after the 2008 Summer Olympics , Gîdoiu was able to get back on track. Georgescu had successfully steered the Romanian large boat since the early 1990s and thus occupied the only steering position in the women's boat classes for a long time. At the European Rowing Championships in 2008 , which took place only a few weeks after the Olympic Games, Gîdoiu already drove the victorious eighth and won her first European title. In the following years up to 2012, the Romanian large boat again won the European championships with Gîdoiu at the wheel . At the 2009 and 2010 World Rowing Championships , he also won a silver and a bronze medal.

Gîdoiu also drove eighth at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he finished fourth in the final. She then ended her career, and Daniela Druncea followed her as the helmswoman of the Romanian large boat.
