The dam Valparaíso ( Spanish Presa de Valparaíso ) is a dam with hydroelectric power station in the province of Zamora , Spain . It dams the Tera , which forms the border between the municipalities of Mombuey and Villardeciervos , into a reservoir. The dam is used to generate electricity. It was completed in 1987 (or 1988). The dam is owned and operated by Iberdrola Generacion SA .
Barrier structure
The barrier structure is a concrete gravity dam with a height of 67 m above the foundation base . The top of the wall lies at a height of 836 m above sea level . The length of the top of the wall is 540 m. The volume of the dam is 269,830 m³.
The dam wall has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 80 (or 90) m³ / s can be discharged via the bottom outlet, and a maximum of 1012 m³ / s via the flood discharge. The design flood is 1097 m³ / s. The flood relief is on the left side of the river.
Reservoir
With the normal storage target of 833 m, the reservoir extends over an area of around 12.23 km² and holds 162 (or 169) million m³ of water; 102 (or 145) million m³ of this can be used for power generation.
power plant
The installed capacity of the power plant is 66 (or 67.5) MW . The two Francis turbines went into operation in 1988. The fall height is 46.30 m. The maximum flow rate is 160 m³ / s for the two turbines. The machine house is at the foot of the dam.
