Tamara Müller (born October 16, 1977 in Goldau ) is a former Swiss ski racer . From 1999 to 2002 she was a member of the B-team of the Swiss Ski Association and was promoted to the A-team in 2003. She had to end her career in 2005 due to an injury.

biography

Müller began her career with FIS races , in January 1996 she started in the European Cup for the first time . In February / March of the same year she took part in the Junior World Championship and finished 16 in slalom and 20 in giant slalom. The first good European Cup result she achieved on December 11, 1998 with fifth place in the slalom of St. Sebastian . Then she was able to start in the Slalom of St. Anton for the first time in the World Cup on January 17, 1999 , where she immediately finished 22nd and got her first points. In the next few years, however, it was only used very rarely and for the time being these remained her only World Cup points.

While Müller started her career mainly in the technical disciplines, over the years she developed into a specialist in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines. She reached her first European Cup podium on January 10, 2001 with third place in the downhill from Tignes . In the 2001/02 season, the Swiss competed in the World Cup again, competed in six races and almost reached the points three times. In the European Cup she finished second in the downhill from Tarvisio at the beginning of February, a month later she also came second in the downhill from Lenzerheide , and in the Super-G she celebrated her first and only European Cup victory the next day.

From the 2002/03 season , Müller concentrated exclusively on the World Cup and surprisingly reached seventh place on December 7, 2002 in the downhill run from Lake Louise . On January 15, 2003, she was able to beat this result and finished fourth in the Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo . Just three days later, her career suffered a serious setback. She fell on the downhill from Cortina, suffered a broken collarbone and had to end the season.

In the 2003/04 season she returned to the World Cup, but could not match the results of the previous year and did not come under the top 30 in any race. On January 15, 2004, Müller crashed again hard and during training for the descent from Cortina d'Ampezzo suffered a cruciate ligament tear . The season ended prematurely, and in the winter of 2004/05 she could not contest any races. Finally, in the summer of 2005, she announced her retirement from ski racing.
