Tamarindo is a place on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in the Guanacaste province of the Central American state of Costa Rica . The bay of the same name in front of the village is a well-known surfing area for surfing .

geography

The place is surrounded by several national parks in the north and south as well as mountains in the east and the bay "Bahia Tamarindo" in the west. The small island "Isla Capitan" is about 500 meters off the coast of the village . To the north of the main beach “Playa Tamarindo” is the beach “Playa Grande” , separated by a salt water estuary where crocodiles live . history

Wildlife

The two beaches of Playa Grande and Playa Langosta, which are adjacent to Playa Tamarindo, are protected areas for the very large leatherback turtle , which is mostly threatened by fishing in the Pacific and lays its eggs there between October and March.
