The small-flowered tamarisk or spring tamarisk ( Tamarix parviflora ) is a species of the tamarisk ( Tamarix ) genus .

features

The small-flowered tamarisk is a shrub or tree that reaches heights of 2 to 6 meters. The bark is brown to purple. The flowers are four-fold. They stand together in ears 1.5 to 3 centimeters long . The sepals are serrated. The petals are not keeled. The stamens are fused with the lobes of the nectar leaves. The bracts are triangular-pointed, boat-shaped and almost completely membranous.

Flowering time is from April to June.

Occurrence

The small-flowered tamarisk occurs in the eastern Mediterranean . Its distribution area includes Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and Israel. The species grows on river banks and in swamps up to altitudes of 300 meters.
