Tampereen Pyrintö is the basketball division of Tampereen Pyrintö from Tampere , Finland .

The Tampereen Pyrintö basketball division was founded in 1941. The club plays its home games in Pyynikin palloiluhalli in the Pyynikki district .

Olli Ahvenniemi has won two Finnish championships with Pyrintö.

The Tampereen Pyrintö basketball division was founded in 1941 . The first game in the state league completed Pyrintö on February 23, 1952 against Helsingin Kisa-Toverit . In the 1957/58 season Pyrintö won the runner-up, the first medal of the men's team. In 1969 the club won the Finnish Cup competition. At the beginning of the 1980s, Pyrintö lost twice in the final of the championship and thus each achieved the silver medal. From 1996 to 2005 Pyrintö played under the name Pyrbasket. During these years team achieved a silver medal (2001) and a second place in the cup.

Since 2005 Pyrintö has been playing under his old name again. Pyrintös' most successful period to date began during the 2008/09 season. With coach Pieti Poikola and with players like Damon Williams and Antti Nikkilä , Pyrintö first won a bronze medal in the Finnish championship in 2009 and second place in the cup. Then they won the national championship for the first time in 2010 and were able to defend the title in 2011. In 2014 Pyrintö won the championship for the third time. In addition, the club also reached fourth place in the Baltic Basketball League .
