MC Mazique

MC Mazique (born March 2,  1975 in Brooklyn ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

The eight-foot indoor player was a member of the University of Alabama college team from 1995 to 1999 . After three years of play in which he made little appearance, Mazique was a top performer in the 1998/99 season, scoring 9.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per encounter.

The American began his career as a professional basketball player in the 1999/2000 season at KK Zagreb in Croatia , scoring 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per match in the European club competition Korać Cup . During the summer break of 2000, Mazique, who is particularly known for his strengths in the fight for rebounds, moved to the Telekom Baskets Bonn  in the German basketball league . In 19 Bundesliga games for Bonn he achieved an average of 16.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per stake, in addition he was challenged with the Rhinelander in the European Cup Saporta Cup , here Mazique achieved averages of 17.4 points and 6.4 Rebounds per game. However, he was released in Bonn in March 2001 because he refused to take part in endurance training sessions several times. After separating from Bonn, he played briefly in the 2000/01 season for the French first division club Pau-Orthez (3 league games: 10 points, 5 rebounds / game).

Mazique went to Italy's Serie A , he played at Coop Nordest Trieste in 2001/02 , in 42 league games he reached an average of 15.1 points and 7.1 rebounds. In the 2002/03 season the American was briefly under contract with CB Granada in the highest league in Spain, Liga ACB (3 games: 1 point, 3.7 rebounds / encounter), and in early November 2002 coach Peter Schomers brought him to EnBW Ludwigsburg  and thus back to the Bundesliga. He was on the field for Ludwigsburg in 19 Bundesliga games and achieved 14.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. As in Bonn, his second Bundesliga year ended prematurely when Mazique asked to terminate his contract at the end of April 2003 in order to return to his home country for personal reasons.

For the 2003/04 season Mazique joined the Italian second division club Carife Ferrara. He then continued his career in Turkey  , playing five league games for the first division side Türk Telekom (6 points, 3.4 rebounds / game) at the beginning of the 2004/05 game year before they split up. Later in the 2004/05 season Mazique played for the first time in Asia , at the South Korean club Daegu Orions.

The 2005/06 game year began for him at Aveiro Basket in Portugal , where he recorded high statistical values ​​with 23.3 points and 7 rebounds per match. In November 2005 he left the team and accepted an offer from Étendard de Brest, then bottom of the table in the French first division. Mazique played two league games for Brest, scored an average of 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per encounter, but still used a contractual clause in November 2005 to end the cooperation and to switch to Cholet Basket within the league . He stayed there until the end of the 2005/06 season.

For the 2006/07 season Mazique went to Ovarense in Portugal , at the beginning of October 2006 he moved to Aguas de Calpe in Spain. He stayed with the third division team until the end of December 2006 and was on the field in 16 league games during this time (12.6 points, 7.9 rebounds / stake). Mazique's last club as a professional basketball player was the Finnish first division team Tampereen Pyrintö in 2007/08 , for whom he scored an average of 13 points and 7 rebounds in 29 league appearances.
