Peter Schomers (born December 2, 1962 in Rosenheim ) is a former basketball player and current basketball coach.

At the age of 17, Schomers played together with Armin Andres , who later also became a coach, for SB DJK Rosenheim in the 2nd basketball league . While he was finishing high school at the sports boarding school in Bad Sooden-Allendorf , he played for the BG Göttingen . He then studied psychology and sports in the USA and graduated with a " Bachelor of Science " degree . After his return to Germany, Schomers obtained a degree in psychology.

During his time as a player, Peter Schomers played mainly for basketball clubs from Württemberg in the basketball league , namely in Ludwigsburg, Tübingen and Ulm. This continued at least at the beginning of his coaching career, later he switched to Hamburg as a coach. From 2004 he worked for BSC Fürstenfeld in Austria , later he switched to coaching clubs in the Middle East (Kuwait and United Arab Emirates).

Peter Schomers briefly worked as a coach for the Lebanese national basketball team in 2011 , but was replaced by a new coach after two weeks.

In 2015, 2016 and 2017, Schomers al-Ahli won the GCC basketball club championship, in which the best teams from the Gulf region compete.
