Tan Jin Eong

Tan Jin Eong (* 1927 ; † November 2, 2014 in Ipoh ) was a Malaysian badminton player from Perak . He was the son of badminton player Tan Cheng Phor . Tan Eng Looi , also successful in badminton, was his sister.

Career

He won the World Championship for men's teams , the Thomas Cup , with the Malaysian team in the 1954/55 season . In the final against Denmark he played twice with Lim Kee Fong . Against Ole Mertz and Ove Eilertsen she won in two sets, while against Finn Kobberø and Jørgen Hammergaard Hansen they were defeated in three sets, giving the Danes the only team point to make it 8-1.

Tan Jin Eong won numerous national titles in his homeland of Perak. In 1949 he won all three possible disciplines.

Tan died on November 2, 2014 at the age of 87 at the Kinta Medical Center in Ipoh of complications from kidney failure .
