The Tapleys Hill Road is a main road in Adelaide in the center of the Australian state of South Australia . It connects the city's western suburbs from Port Adelaide to Glenelg .

course

It runs through the Local Government Areas Port Adelaide Enfield City , Charles Sturt City , West Torrens City and Holdfast Bay City .

The road branches off the Port Road (A7) in Atherton to the southwest and after a few hundred meters crosses the Old Port Road , where it turns south. It crosses West Lakes Road , Trimmer Parade , Grange Road and Henley Beach Road . Then it crosses the River Torrens and Burbridge Road / Sir Donald Bradman Drive (A6). It then forms the western boundary of Adelaide Airport . After crossing the Sturt River , it reaches the Anzac Highway (A5) in Glenelg and ends. The Brighton Road (A15) is continued to the south.

Expansion of the Anzac Highway

Before the expansion of the Anzac Highway in the 1990s, the southern end of Tapleys Hill Road was connected to the Anzac Highway and was about 100 m west of today's end. The expansion included a rerouting of Tapleys Hill Road in this area and tied it to the north end of Brighton Road . This has avoided traffic jams in this busy area. The old route still exists today and is called Old Tapleys Hill Road . It only serves as a residential street.
