Tarık Akan (born December 13, 1949 in Istanbul ; † September 16, 2016 there ; civil Tarık Tahsin Üregül ) was a Turkish actor .

Life

Akan was the youngest of three siblings. His father was an officer, so the family moved very often within Turkey in his youth. He started elementary school in Dumlupınar and finished it in Kayseri . After the father retired, the family settled in Istanbul. Akan studied mechanical engineering at Yıldız Technical University . He then studied journalism.

Akan aspired to a career as an actor and made his debut in 1971 in the film Solan Bir Yaprak Gibi . Until about 1975 he starred in numerous comedies and commercial films. Later he turned to more political works and played a. a. in Yol - The Way and Sürü - The Herd .

He did his military service in Denizli in 1979 . After the military coup in 1980 , he was brought to justice under Article 140 of the tStGB for a speech he had given in Frankfurt on May 23, 1981 . The military prosecutor called for 6 years and 8 months in prison. In addition, there was a case of a peace association. Here the requirement was 12 years imprisonment. Akan was sentenced to 2.5 months in a cell.

In 1986 he married and had three children. In 1989 the couple separated.

In 2002 he wrote a book called Anne kafamda bit var . In it he talks about the time after the military coup. Akan died of lung cancer on September 16, 2016 .
