Career
Mounsey spent her high school time at Concord High School in her native Concord until 1996 , from where she moved to Brown University . During her five years at the university she played - in addition to her neurosurgery studies - for the university team in the ECAC hockey . Already after her first year of school, after which she was voted both ECAC Rookie of the Year and Ivy League , the defender took a break from studying. She moved after the 1997 World Cup , where she won the silver medal with the women's national ice hockey team of the United States , for one season in the US hockey association USA Hockey . With this she prepared specifically for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan . At the women's ice hockey tournament held for the first time as part of the Winter Games, Mounsey and the team won the gold medal.
The defensive player then returned to Brown University, where she finished her studies in 2001. During this time she had been nominated twice for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and had won another silver medal with the national team at the 1999 World Cup . After a two-year absence from the US team, she received a place in the Olympic squad for the 2002 Winter Olympics in her home town of Salt Lake City and was able to win silver again. Subsequently, she ended her active career and devoted herself to her profession. She concluded a master's degree at Boston College as a nurse , and worked since 2004 as an orthopedic nurse practitioner at New England Baptist Hospital . She also serves as the Boston Celtics medical coordinator from the National Basketball Association .
