Tarik Sektioui (born May 13, 1977 in Fès , Morocco ) is a former Moroccan football player and current coach .
Player career
His career began in his native city, Maghreb Fez . There, the French club AJ Auxerre noticed him and signed the winger in 1998. After just one year, he left France again and went to Switzerland to Neuchâtel Xamax . Here, too, it didn't last long and he moved to the Dutch club Willem II Tilburg in 2000 . He played in Tilburg for four years and even took part in the Champions League with the club .
In 2004 he decided to move to league rivals AZ Alkmaar after his contract expired. The right striker was also set in Alkmaar and contributed a few goals to the runner-up in 2005 in the honor division .
A year later he switched to FC Porto , who paid € 1 million for the Moroccan. At first it was hardly used there and in early 2007 it was loaned to RKC Waalwijk for half a year . In the 2007/08 season he was an integral part of the team. In the 2008/09 season , however, he was mostly on the bench.
In summer 2009 Sektioui left Porto and moved to the Ajman Club in the United Arab Emirates. In the 2010/11 season he played one more time for Maghreb Fez in his hometown before ending his active career.
Coaching career
In 2012, Sektioui took over as coach at his former club Maghreb Fez in Botola , Morocco , the country's highest league. In 2013 he held the office again. After working for local rivals Wydad Fez in between, he returned to Maghreb in mid-2016 , which had just been relegated to the second division. After two unsuccessful attempts to rise again, he left the club in mid-2018. He has been in charge of the Moroccan U-20 national team since November 2018 .
