Tarik Shah

Tarik Shah (* 24. January 1963 in Harlem as Tarik Dowdell ) is an American bassist of the Modern Jazz , who since 2005 as a sympathizer of al-Qaeda is in jail.

Live and act

Shah, who comes from a musical family (his brother Antoine Dowdell works as a music teacher and jazz pianist), learned the double bass from the age of twelve ; he studied with Slam Stewart . He toured Europe with Betty Carter in 1985. Then he worked with Ahmad Jamal , Abbey Lincoln , Ron Burton and Art Taylor . He was also in the Duke Ellington Orchestra and accompanied Red Rodney , Roland Hanna , Harold Vick and Dr. Lonnie Smith worked and played regularly in clubs such as St. Nick's Pub in Manhattan . He also recorded with Vanessa Rubin ( Pastiche , 1993) and with the World Saxophone Quartet ( Breath of Life , 1992). In 2005 he was arrested because he was a V-Person of the FBI as jihad loaded -Sympathisant. In 2007, he pleaded guilty in order to avoid the maximum sentence and was convicted.
