coat of arms

The Tasuja was built under the name Lindormen as a type ship of the same class of the Danish Navy . The ship later belonged to the Estonian Navy .

history

The then Lindormen was built in 1977 as the first of a two-unit class of ships on Svendborg Værft . From 1978 to 2004 she was used by the Danish Navy. The ship was then taken over as Tasuja by the Estonian Navy and assigned as a diving ship to the local anti-mine division ( Miinilaevade Divisjon ).

First period of service (Danish Navy)

The ship entered service on June 14, 1978 under the name Lindormen by the Danish Navy. In the following years it was mainly used as a mine layer, but also took on tasks as a command and supply ship (e.g. for the NATO anti-mine association). After 26 years of service in Denmark, the ship was decommissioned on October 22, 2004 and then taken over by the Estonian Navy.

Second term of service (Estonian Navy)

In the Estonian Navy, the ship was used as Tasuja from 2006 to 2016.

tasks

  • Platform for missions and training of the EOD Tuukrigrupp
  • Ensure security and freedom in Estonian waters
  • Sea rescue service
  • Participation in operations as part of BALTRON
  • Representing Estonia in international exercises and operations

Ship coat of arms

A silver sword was in the center of the ship's coat of arms. The sword symbolizes Tasuja's importance during the ancient Estonian struggle for freedom in the 13th century as well as the importance of the historic ship Tasuja during the Estonian War of Freedom . The ship's motto in Latin was More Maiorum , which is called like our forefathers in German . The coat of arms was designed by Priit Herod.

On July 8, 2006, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Kunda City Council and the diving ship Tasuja. This gave the ship the right to wear the Kunda city coat of arms, while the crew presented the city in foreign ports in return.
