Baptismal font St. Georg (Frauenberg)
The baptismal font in the Catholic parish church of St. Georg in Frauenberg , a district of Euskirchen in the district of the same name in North Rhine-Westphalia , was created in the 12th century.
The baptismal font made of Namur bluestone is 95 cm high. The shallow basin shows large leaves under four coarse corner heads in place of the capitals for the flanking columns. Mythical animals are depicted on the fields in between.
The baptismal font belongs to the group widespread throughout the Lower Rhine , such as B. also the baptismal font in the church of St. Peter in Zingsheim and the baptismal font in the church of St. Martin in Friesheim .
