Life
Sterr grew up on the Schwanthaler Höhe . There he experienced the war time and bombing until his class from the Theresiengymnasium was sent to the countryside because of the air raids. After the end of the Nazi dictatorship, he got to know jazz in Munich, especially boogie , which electrified him and which he played on the piano in clubs in the Bahnhofsviertel. In 1955 he was a co-founder of the Hot Dogs, for which he also composed. Sterr was also a member of the German Composers Association .
Sterr also worked as a visual artist; he painted surrealistic pictures. During a business trip in Brussels , he visited his idol René Magritte . From 1974 he lived with his wife in the house he helped design in the Fasanerie-Nord . Sterr was buried on November 3, 2011 at the Feldmoching cemetery.
In 2014 the cultural center 2411 posthumously presented its surrealist images.
