The Taunus Information Center (TIZ) is an information center in the Taunus , which is intended to serve as an introduction to the Taunus Nature Park tourism region . The building is in Oberursel in the Hessian Hochtaunuskreis at 303  m above sea level. NHN at the end of Hohemarkstraße near the terminus of the U3 .

history

The building was planned by the Bad Homburg architectural office Kreateam architekten . It has 1,400 m² of usable space on two floors. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 10, 2010 and the opening in 2011 in time for the Hessentag 2011 in Oberursel. The construction costs were around 2.8 million euros.

The center is run by the Taunus Nature Park Association, Taunus Touristik Service e. V. (Association for the Promotion of Tourism) and the city of Oberursel.

The center offers advice and suggestions on the existing possibilities for tourism in the Taunus: The Hochtaunusstraße , the Hochtaunus climatic park , the Taunus winter sports region around the Großer Feldberg , the Celtic city of Heidetränk-Oppidum , the gold mine , the numerous museums, castles and Castles and sports.

In the exhibition area, exhibitions on nature, topography, history and culture of the Taunus region are offered. The center maintains a rental station for electric bicycles and an affiliated restaurant. Furthermore, seminar rooms are available. The building is the starting point for guided tours that lead on various hiking trails to the high altitudes of the Hochtaunus .
