The Taunus Film GmbH was a film production company based in Wiesbaden . Until 2010 Taunusfilm worked as a property manager and managed the 2.7  hectare media park “Unter den Eichen” in the north of Wiesbaden. In addition, the company operated a copier for film and television productions under the name ABC & Taunusfilm Kopierwerk .

Taunusfilm was founded on May 2, 1953 in Herne , Westphalia . Two years later, the company moved to Wiesbaden. After the Second World War , a subsidiary of UFA , the Aktiengesellschaft für Filmfabrikation AFIFA, had its production facility there. A large number of German post-war films were produced in the film studios. In 1959 the entrepreneur Karl Schulz bought the premises in Wiesbaden from UFA. Half of the co-partner was Hessische Rundfunk .

On April 1, 1964, ZDF moved from its provisional headquarters in Eschborn to the grounds in Wiesbaden. The broadcasting line, current service and technology were housed here, and the cutting rooms, copier, photo laboratory and editor-in-chief on an adjacent property . After ZDF moved to the Lerchenberg in Mainz , production was carried out on the media site for private broadcasters such as Sat.1 , RTL and the ARD subsidiary Degeto Film .

In 1998 film production was outsourced to the Taunusfilm production company due to high pressures and crises in the media markets. Until then, co-owners were Hessischer Rundfunk with its advertising subsidiary HR Werbung, CineMedia Film and Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen . Since then, Taunusfilm has been the holding company in its operative business exclusively as a real estate company ; Taunusfilm production company filed for bankruptcy in 2002 . The remaining ABC & Taunusfilm Kopierwerk filed for bankruptcy in 2012.

Today, prospective media IT specialists and media technicians from the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences study in the former Studio 1 of the ZDF, which was converted in 2007 . Various media companies continue to have their headquarters at Unter den Eichen 5 .
