Tavşan Adası ( Turkish for ' Hare Island', Greek Νέανδρος Neandros ) is the smallest and southernmost of the Prince Islands near Istanbul and belongs to the Adalar district .
history
In Byzantine times , the island served as a quarry. The patriarch Ignatios I founded a monastery on the island, the remains of which can still be seen today. Residents of the Greek island of Andros migrated to Tavşan Adası and named it New Andros .
