The Tavares, Eustis & Gulf Railroad (TE & G) was founded 8 October 2011 Museum railway company , some as Orange Blossom Cannonball ( Engl. Marketed for Orange Blossom Cannonball) steam train on a track of the Florida Central Railroad in Tavares in Lake County of Florida business. Operations ceased on January 29, 2017.
history
The oldest section of the route on which the TE&G drove according to the schedule is between Tavares and Eustis . It was originally built between 1882 and 1883 by the St. Johns and Lake Eustis Railway . The TE&G most frequented section of the route between Tavares and Mount Dora was originally built between 1886 and 1887 by the Sanford and Lake Eustis Railway .
Train traffic
The Orange Blossom Cannonball was a train service operated by TE&G with a wood-burning steam locomotive. The total of 1¾ hour drive took ½ hour for the journeys between Tavares and Mount Dora with a ¾ hour stop.
There were special trips like the Trains of the Wild West , The Great Pumpkin Limited and The Cannonball Christmas Express .
Locomotives
- No. 2: Baldwin - 2-6-0 steam locomotive from 1907. It was the only operational standard gauge steam locomotive and the oldest steam locomotive of any gauge in Florida. It has been used in the making of several films, such as: B. O Brother, Where Art Thou? - A Mississippi Odyssey and True Grit .
- No. 33: 1941 45 t GE shunting diesel locomotive from 1941 for the train called Lake Dora Limited .
