The Tajik Autonomous County Taxkorgan or Tashkorgan is an autonomous Tajik county in the Kaxgar administrative district in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​24,088.82 km². In 2008 it had around 40,000 inhabitants, mainly Tajiks , Kyrgyz , Uyghurs , Han and Hui . Its main town is the large municipality of Taxkorgan (塔什库尔干 镇), which is 1,765 km from Ürümqi .

Administrative structure
