Taylor Rooney (born December 28, 1997 ) is a New Zealand ice hockey player who has been under contract with the West Auckland Admirals in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League since 2015 and plays in the southern hemisphere summer in North America.

Career

Taylor Rooney began his career with the Auckland Juniors in the New Zealand Junior Elite League. Since 2015 he has played for the West Auckland Admirals in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League . With the team, he became New Zealand national champion for the first time in 2018.

In the southern hemisphere summer he played for Vasas Budapest's U18 team in 2014/15 . Since 2015 he has been active in North America during the New Zealand summer, where he previously played for the Parry Sound Islanders in the Greater Metra Hockey League, the Cheyenne Stampede in the Western States Hockey League and the Wisconsin Muskies in the United States Premier Hockey League.

International

In the junior division, Rooney played with the New Zealand selection at the U18 World Cup in 2015 and the U20 World Cup in 2016 and 2017 , when he was voted the best player on his team, both in Division III.

For the men's national team , Rooney took part in the 2018 World Cup in Division II for the first time.
