The Taylor University is a private Christian university in Indiana . It is one of the oldest evangelical universities in the United States .
history
The university was founded by Methodists in 1846 as a women's educational institution called Fort Wayne Female College , Fort Wayne . From 1850 onwards, men were also allowed and the name was changed to Fort Wayne College . The university bears its current name in honor of Bishop William Taylor.
