The Taylorix Organization was a German service company in the office and information technology industry and was founded in Stuttgart in 1921 by Julius Paul Stiegler and Konradin Haußer . It was named after the economist Frederick Winslow Taylor . In the 1930s, innovations were made in bookkeeping. In 1939 there were 48 branches. The number of employees rose in 1978 to up to 1,400 in 44 branches plus 450 in the main plant in Stuttgart. Around 1980 Taylorix was the second largest service provider with data centers in Germany. The turnover in 1980 was 147 million DM. In 1988 Taylorix AG was founded with the majority owner Porsche . In 1994 the company was sold to Automatic Data Processing . The company went out in 1999.

In 1939 the booking system Contofix was integrated into the typewriters of the Torpedo-Werke (Torpedo 6) and marketed under Taylorix.

The supplier of the paper products was the printing company Georg Kohl GmbH in Brackenheim (today Ricoh ). Georg Kohl later also became a partner.

In 1950 Taylorix Fachverlag was founded.

In 1966 the first data center was built in Stuttgart.

The Fixomat booking system and the Fixodata data acquisition system appeared in the 1960s .

In 1970 the education center taylorix institute for vocational education eV was founded.

Between 1971 and 1984 OEM office computers were sold by Triumph-Adler , including the TA 1000 (from 1973). The target group were small and medium-sized enterprises, especially tax advisors.

From 1980 computers from DEC ( PDP-11 as System 11 ) and from 1981 to 1985 CP / M computers and terminals from Siemens as well as the in-house development System 4 were sold. Then other personal computers such as the Commodore 128 and IBM PCs. In 1981 more than 11,700 systems were installed, which meant 6th place in Germany in terms of numbers, ahead of Philips, Siemens and DEC.

In 1976 a cooperation was concluded with Tymshare , which had created the predecessor system of dBASE , and the subsidiary Taylorix-Tymshare GmbH was founded.

The subsidiary THS-Software was founded in 1992 and is still in existence today.

In addition to typewriters, computers and peripheral devices such as printers, industry-specific software was also developed, including the Timos financial program and the tax consultancy software Mandant 44 .

After founding and selling the stock corporation, ADDISON took over the distribution of the software before the brand was deleted in 1999.
