Team ICO was a Japanese game development team within Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio , led by Fumito Ueda .

history

Team Ico was founded in 1997 in Japan. In 2001 they released their first work Ico for the PlayStation 2 and received good reviews for it. In 2005 they released the game Shadow of the Colossus . The Last Guardian has been in development at Team ICO since 2007 and was officially announced at the 2009 Expo. The game should be released in 2011 exclusively for the PlayStation 3 .

In 2011 Ueda left Sony and the team was disbanded. The development of The Last Guardian went to Ueda's new development studio gen Design in 2014 and the game was released for the PlayStation 4 in 2016 .
