Team Me is an indie pop band from Norway . For their debut album To the Treetops the group won the Norwegian Grammy Spellemannprisen in the category “Best Pop Group of the Year”.

history

The band name suggests their formation: "Team Me" originally consisted only of Marius Drogsås Hagen, who started his own side project while he was still involved in two different bands ( Jaqueline and SIN ) as guitarist and singer. When the music, which he submitted for the music competition of the Norwegian broadcaster NRK- Urørt, was accepted, he had to put together a band in a relatively short time to play his songs live. The collective celebrated its premiere in exactly that final in 2010. Team Me gained a fan base through several successful appearances at the Øyafestivalen , Pstereo and Volumfestivalen festivals in their home country.

In spring 2011 the first EP was released on the label "Propeller Recordings". It received good reviews and made it to # 92 on the American colleague radio charts, CMJ Top 200, with a base of solid airplays on various American and European radio stations.

The band's final international breakthrough came in 2011. Team Me performed a large number of concerts and played at the Scandinavian music congress and festival by: Larm, the British festivals The Great Escape in Brighton and Club NME in London , the Øyafestivalen in Oslo and the Iceland Airwaves . In the same year the band performed in Germany at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and at the Berlin Independent Night. In addition, "Team Me" played as support for The Wombats on their tours through Europe, UK and Scandinavia.

In October 2011, the debut album To The Treetops! published in Norway and received extremely positive feedback from the Norwegian and international music press: some critics said it was the best debut album ever released by a Norwegian band. Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene or the US synth hippies Passion Pit were named as musical references .

In March 2012 the album was released in Germany, France, England and other European countries. After the album was released in Norway, the band started their first tour of Europe and played at the SXSW Festival in Austin (Texas) and at Eurosonic in the Netherlands in 2012 .
