Technetium (IV) chloride , usually also technetium tetrachloride , (TcCl 4 ) is an inorganic compound of the elements technetium and chlorine .

presentation

Technetium (IV) chloride can be obtained by reacting technetium (VII) oxide with carbon tetrachloride or technetium with chlorine .

properties

Technetium (IV) chloride is a moisture-sensitive red solid. In water it dissolves with hydrolytic decomposition, in hydrochloric acid with formation of [TcCl 6 ] 2− . Technetium (IV) chloride has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pbca (space group no. 61) and the lattice parameters a  = 603 pm, b  = 1165 pm and c  = 1406 pm.
