The former Stade Technology and Transport Museum in Stade presented the changes brought about by technology in the living and working conditions of the people of the Stade region between around 1850 and the present and had around 5,000 exhibits . Until its closure in November 2012, it was run by a sponsoring association founded in 1983 .

After the termination of the premises in December 2010, a negative assessment of the museum quality and an eviction action by the city of Stade in January 2012, the city and the sponsoring association agreed in quality negotiations before the district court of Stade to close the museum by the end of October 2012. The sponsoring association then tried to move to another municipality . Since nobody wanted to take over the unstructured collection , the sponsoring association announced in July 2012 that it would initiate a citizens' initiative to preserve the museum in Stade. After the failure of the referendum, the museum officials tried in vain to legally challenge the result of the quality negotiations in October 2012. On November 15, 2012, the museum was closed by foreclosure . In spring 2013, the museum's holdings were moved to Hanover.
