environmental engineering
The terms environmental technology , technical environmental protection or environmental protection technology are understood to mean the technical and technological processes to protect the environment as well as to restore already damaged ecosystems . These procedures are developed in the field of environmental engineering . The engineering science that deals with environmental protection technology is sometimes also called environmental technology.
The subject of environmental technology are:
- in particular the disposal (e.g. waste disposal , waste incineration , recycling , the creation of landfills , wastewater treatment ),
- technical measures for water , soil , noise and radiation protection ,
- Process for reducing air pollution (e.g. flue gas desulphurisation , exhaust gas cleaning , dedusting process ), see process engineering ,
- Techniques for the effective use of renewable energies (e.g. solar energy , geothermal energy , biofuels ),
- as well as the metrological recording and monitoring of pollutants and environmental damage .
In addition, there are also environmental concepts and measures for environmentally friendly production , for saving energy and for avoiding or reducing emissions and waste .
A distinction is made between the following applications:
Environmental technicians examine environmental pollutants and plan, design and build environmental technology systems based on the knowledge gained in order to minimize environmental pollution.
The environmental technology or environmental technology course is offered at several locations in Germany and beyond: on the Burghausen campus , at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Muttenz , at the East Bavarian Technical University of Amberg-Weiden and at the MCI Management Center Innsbruck .
